National Healthy Bones Week, August 3-9, 2008 a joint initiative by Dairy Australia and Osteoporosis Australia, highlights the need to protect bone health, particularly among growing children.
Improving children’s intake of calcium-rich foods, such as dairy foods, helps to support healthy bone development and maximize peak bone mass. This is important to help reduce the risk of osteoporosis and fractures in later adult years.
Osteoporosis SA will be lifting the lid on lunch at Royal Adelaide Hospital during Healthy Bones Week. Meet us in the main foyer near the escalator between 11am and 2pm on Monday 4th August and Thursday 7th August to view Australian, Mediterranean, Asian, Children’s and Vegetarian lunches, and find out about the wide variety of foods which can be used to create a high calcium lunch. A qualified nutritionist and the Osteoporosis SA educator will be present.
